It’s simple ….

Jesus is THE Way … THE Truth …. and THE Life …..

John, the disciple “whom Jesus loved” … as he called himself …. tells us that Jesus said this about Himself in Chapter 14, verse 6 ….

Jesus is comforting the disciples because He is breaking the news to them that He must leave soon. And Thomas is confused because … after all this time with Jesus he still does not know where He is going.

So Jesus tells them ….

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

Jesus said … and it’s been recorded for our encouragement (Rms. 15:4) … that He is the WAY.  Way means “thoroughfare, road or path”.  Jesus is saying … I am the only path to My Father.  And He is the ONLY path or thoroughfare because He is Truth & He is Life!

Why do we make it so complicated? If He said it, why do I doubt it sometimes?  Do you doubt it sometimes? Do you ever get sucked into believing that maybe … just maybe … there’s another way?

Maybe that’s not what you think …. but maybe you think …. ‘but I’m sure there is something else I need to do to be with the Father?’  Maybe if we just do a few more ‘good’ things …. or maybe if we could just stop yelling at our kids …. or maybe if we could just get our checkbook updated and balanced on-time EVERY month (not saying that I struggle with that one ….) … or maybe if we could just read our Bibles every day and pray every day … maybe then we can get that life that Jesus is talking about.

We can easily be pulled away from this simple truth …. and sometime we won’t even know that we are slipping away.  Just like Paul said to the church at Corinth ….

But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your MINDS will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. (2 Cor. 11:3)

Let us stay faithful to the pure and simple Gospel truth … it is only through Jesus that we come to the Father.  Let us boast only in the Cross and in Christ ~ the Author and Perfector of our faith.

Today …. will you join me in ….

• Choosing to believe this truth about our only way to the Father?
• Making your life’s goal to please Him and bring glory only to Him?
• Pursuing Him with simple passion and pure devotion to God’s One and Only Son, Christ?
